Outlook for Mac: Add and manage your delegates

You can give a delegate access to your Microsoft Exchange calendar, address book, and inbox, and you can set permissions that define the activities that delegates can carry out for you.

Do any of the following:

Add a delegate

Important: To use delegation, you and your delegate must have Microsoft Exchange account.

  1. On the Tools menu, click Accounts.
  2. Click the account that you want to add a delegate to, click Advanced, and then click the Delegates tab.
  3. Under Delegates who can act on my behalf, click Add  Add.
  4. Type the name of the person that you want to add as a delegate, and then click Find.
  5. Click the delegate’s name, and then click OK.
  6. For each item type, use the pop-up menu to select the permission level that you want to set for the delegate.

    For more information about the permission levels for delegates, see About sharing and delegation.

    Note: Before a delegate can access your items, he or she must add you to the People I am a delegate for list in his or her Microsoft Exchange account. For information about how to become a delegate for someone else, see Become a delegate or stop being a delegate.

Manage delegate permissions for multiple item types

  1. On the Tools menu, click Accounts.
  2. Click the account that you want to change permissions for, click Advanced, and then click the Delegates tab.
  3. Under Delegates who can act on my behalf, click the delegate.
  4. Click the Action  Action pop-up menu button, click Set Permissions, and then make the changes that you want.

    Note: If you set the permission level to None, the delegate remains on the list, which allows you to quickly reinstate permissions later. For information about the permission levels, see About sharing and delegation.

Manage delegate permissions for a single folder

  1. In the navigation pane, click the folder that you want to change.
  2. On the Organize tab, click Permissions.

  3. Click the name of the person that you want to change the permissions for.
  4. On the Permission Level pop-up menu, click the access level that you want.

    To customize the permission levels, select the check boxes for the items that you want, and then under Edit Items and Delete Items, click the permission level that you want.

    Note: If you set the permission level to None, the delegate remains on the list, which allows you to quickly reinstate permissions later. For information about the permission levels, see About sharing and delegation.

Remove a delegate

  1. On the Tools menu, click Accounts.
  2. Click the account that you want to change permissions for, click Advanced, and then click the Delegates tab.
  3. Under Delegates who can act on my behalf, click the delegate.
  4. Click Delete  Delete.

  1. Click the Apple icon
  2. Select About This Mac
  3. On the Overview tab, click System Report…
  4. On the left navigation pane, navigate to Software
  5. Expand Software

sync services on outlook 2011 – OSX lion

Issue:
I updated to OSX Lion. While in Outlook 2011, opening the sync services, all the panes were blank, so I cant configure it to sync the outlook calendar with ical and outlook contacts with apple adress book.

resolution:

Click on mac desktop to show finder menu
Press option key and click on Go on finder menu
Click on Library, Preferences
Look for this file com.microsoft.Outlook.SyncServicesPreferences.plist and delete it
Exit and launch Outlook

Configuring Address Book for MAC Snow Leopard
 In Snow Leopard, Mac-Mail, Address Book and i-cal now uses web services to connect to Exchange server 2007. This is more reliable and robust.
Follow these steps to configure your MAC Address Book to use the Global Address List in Exchange server 2007
 
1. Launch Address Book
2. Click on Address book, preferences, Accounts
3. Click on +Sign to add an account.
4. For Account type, Choose Exchange 2007
5. Type your full name, primary email address, and password
6. Type your username
7. Click next. Ensure your account information is correcty displayed in Account summary. Also check the boxes next to Mail and iCal calendars if you haven’t configured those aleady.
8. Click on create
9. Open new mail window and confirm entries are showing up in the gloabol address book
 

Configuring Apple MacMail for secure IMAP

Macmail can be used to connect remotely to MS Exchange server 2007 or Exchange 2010 using secure imap protocol.
 
Use the following recommended settings to configure MACMAIL if your server is Exchange 2007
 
Account type: IMAP
 
Email address: your email address
 
Full name: your full name
 
Incoming Mail Server: imap.domain.com
 
Username: username
 
Password: your domain password
 
Port: 993 (check use SSL)
 
Outgoing Mail Server(SMTP): smtp.domain.com
  
Authentication: Password
 
Use the following recommended settings to configure MACMAIL if your server is Exchange 2010
 
Account type: IMAP
 
Email address: your email address
 
Full name: your full name
 
Incoming Mail Server: imap.domain.com; Port: 993 (use SSL)
 
Username: username
 
Password: your domain password
 
Outgoing Mail Server(SMTP): smtp.domain.com, Use port 25 or 587. Note that using port 587 requires authentication information
 
Authentication: Password
