Content Index State is “Unknown”

Scenario: After a server reboot, you notice that the Content Index State is showing Unknown.

Solution:

Stop the MSExchangeFastSearch & HostControllerService on the Exchange Server.

Start the MSExchangeFastSearch & HostControllerService on the Exchange server.
