Unread emails appear as read in Outlook

Issue: Customer reports that unread emails appear as read in Outlook
 
Software: Outlook 2007
 
Resolution:
 
Go to Menu bar,
Click Tools | Options | Other tab.
Click Reading Pane. Deselct mark items as read when selection changes
